During August, the Collaborative hosted yet another MTSE evening workshop for the year 2019, as well as another successful Monthly Convening focused on “Command Leadership.” SDMFC has also hosted it’s Members-Only Networking Event for its members!

Monthly Convening: “Command leadership”
On Friday, August 23, the SDMFC hosted its Monthly Convening at the Mission Valley Library and focused on the topic of “Command Leadership.” We were privileged to have Command Master Chief Anna Wood provide an overview of the challenges that sailors face today as well as share some of her sea stories with our audience. In addition, thank you for the Chief Selects for attending this convening as well.

CPSA 2019-2020 Forums
Community Prevention and Safety Alliance (CPSA) has been working diligently the past two months to prepare for the 2019-2020 academic year forums. The first forum will take place on Tuesday, September 10 from 5:30pm-8:00pm @ Serra High School. The event is intended for parents and youth (middle and high school students) who attend schools in the San Diego Unified School District or to families who may reside in the 92123 or 92124 zip codes in order to better understand the issues teenagers are facing through interactive break-out sessions facilitated and led by youth. Focus topics will include: Stress, building relationships, social media, military life, and substance abuse, to name a few. Childcare and dinner will be provide! SDMFC 9th Annual Summit
Reminder: Mark your calendar for SDMFC’s 9th Annual Summit, themed “Get the Word Out,” happening Friday, October 25, at the Escondido North Inland Live Well Center. Last year’s acclaimed event saw nearly 200 attendees, representing various nonprofit and service provider agencies, command leadership, and civic/governmental organizations. We are still in the developmental stages of our Annual Summit, so if you are interested in participating and lending your assistance, we would greatly appreciate it! SDMFC Members-Only Networking Event
On Friday, August 30, SDMFC hosted its first Members-Only Networking Event at The San Diego Foundation. The vent featured several fun and engaging networking activities to encourage collaboration and getting to know one another. These activities included, Getting to Know You Bingo, Giving an Effective Elevator Pitch; and Teamwork Tower Building. SDMFC was able to treat 18 of our members to an hour and a half meaningful networking. Check out photos and video below!
