Services Provided: Financial/Basic Needs, SDMFC Members

The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society is a 501(c)3 charitable organization that serves Active Duty Military Members, their families, retirees, widows, and reservists activated for more than 30 days. We offer interest-free loans and grants for emergencies and unexpected financial needs; offer a Quick Assist Loan up to $500 for any active duty Marine or Sailor; offer free and confidential budget counseling; free in-home visits by a Combat Casualty Nurse or a Visiting Nurse; offer free Budget for Baby workshops to help expectant parents that includes a layette worth $80 for every attendee; and a Thrift Shop offering gently-used uniform items, clothing and household goods at very low prices. Volunteers make up the bulk of the workforce with a small cadre of paid staff at every location. Volunteer opportunities include: Client Service Assistants, Casework/Budget Counselors, Budget for Baby Instructors, Thrift Shop Assistants, Publicity, and Knitters/Crocheters/Quilters. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm should anyone need assistance.
