Community Conversations

The San Diego Military Family Collaborative and the San Diego Veterans Coalition in
collaboration with research partner the Caster Center at the University of San Diego has
convened a series of “Community Conversations” to map the regional ecosystem of the
programs, resources and services offered to the Military/Veteran Connected Community as a part of the SD Veteran & Family Wellness Strategy.

As conveners of many military service providers in San Diego County, the San Diego Military Family Collaborative (SDMFC)- https://sdmilitaryfamily.org and San Diego Veterans Coalition (SDVC)- http://sdvetscoalition.org/ are partnering together to better support our service members (Active Duty/Veterans) and their families by creating a “Road Map” of programs/services/resources provided to these individuals during different “life moments.”  With support from USD’s Caster Center, this partnership has totaled 4 regional convenings to get an informed landscape of the supports that exist for this community.

Miss out on the Community Conversations? You still have the opportunity to add to the conversation from afar! If you had to leave early or if we missed you and are still seeking to provide feedback, please download the documents below in the comfort of your own office and print, scan, and send to Adrian: aedquid@saysandiego.org

Navigating A Government Shutdown

A government shutdown can bring a lot of uncertainty and stress, especially if this is your first time experiencing one.  Please take a deep breath and know you’re not alone.

We’ve put together the one-sheets below with resources to help guide you through this time.  As you navigate the days ahead, remember to take care of yourself and your loved ones.

Navigating Government Shutdown dtd 30 Jan 2026:  Please note that this will change as we get updates.  For “services expected to remain available”, these were services available during the last shutdown.

Veteran Field Guide to Government Shutdown (VA)

If you are feeling anxiety and or want to plan ahead to make sure your 2026 is off on the right foot, we highly recommend you connect with a financial counselor at your nearest military installation.  For a list of financial counselors and other resources, please check out our January convening blog page.

If you need support or access to resources, the SAY San Diego Military Family Resource Center is here to help. You can reach them at mfrc@saysandiego.org
