Convening Topic:

“Accessing Affordable Childcare”

In this convening, we learned from and networked with organizations that provide and/or financially supplement childcare for military families.

Our panel included:

Jeana Kuhn, Navy Region Southwest

Jeana Kuhn is the Regional School Liaison for Navy Region Southwest.  She worked with Child and Youth Programs (CYP) for close to 20 years.  Her background in Child and Youth comes from being a Youth Director, Trainer, Family Childcare Supervisor, and Youth Programs.  Prior to transitioning to Regional School Liaison, Jeana was the Program Analyst for CYP.

Chelsea Hernandez, Neighborhood House Association

Chelsea Hernandez is a highly dedicated Home-Based Floater, bringing over a decade of enriching experience to her role, serving both the Services to Expectant Families and Early Head Start Home Base Programs at the Neighborhood House Association. Chelsea’s primary focus is on providing educationally stimulating opportunities that foster the growth and development of children and families with a diverse background. She has worked with military children spanning from infants to school-aged, served as an early interventionist helping children meet their Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) goals, and served as a family engagement manager for a non-profit program addressing child abuse and neglect. Her dedication to her work is complemented by her personal experiences as a military spouse to a United States Marine for 10 years and a mother of two sons, all of whom reside in San Diego.
