Wounded Warrior Tennis Program

Services Provided: Individual and Family Life, SDMFC Member

Mission:

The San Diego District Tennis Assoc. / Wounded Warrior Tennis Program uses tennis as a means of rehabilitation and community re-integration for wounded, ill, and injured service members and veterans of all ages. Our programs satisfy physical, emotional, and social needs, promote a fit and healthy lifestyle, and enhance quality of life.

Vision:

To create and inspire a global tennis community for wounded, ill, and injured service members, veterans, and their families where they feel welcome and safe, resulting in improved quality of life through better health, meaningful relationships, self-confidence, and personal independence.

What Wounded Warrior Tennis Program Does:

The San Diego Wounded Warrior Tennis Program exists to serve wounded, ill, and injured service members, veterans, and their families. One of our fundamental tenets is that collaboration is essential to provide the best programs, services, and experiences. We recognize the importance of the SDMFC and the exceptionally strong networks that exist within it. We believe we can bring added value to the members and their organizations based on our experiences, lessons learned, and success, thereby helping “raise the tide for all boats.”

Who Does Wounded Warrior Tennis Program Serve:

We serve wounded, ill, and injured active duty service members and veterans of all ages from all military branches.

How Wounded Warrior Tennis Program serves the military-connected community:

We provide free weekly tennis clinics followed by complimentary lunches at Balboa Tennis Club in collaboration with Naval Medical Center San Diego and VA Medical Center San Diego who refer their patients to our program. We also run all-expense paid week-long tennis camps for wounded, ill, and injured service members and veterans from across the country. We also refer participants in our programs to other community resources as requested/needed.

VetCTAP Partners:

Naval Medical Center San Diego, VA Medical Center San Diego, Balboa Tennis Club, Disabled American Veterans, Paralyzed Veterans of America, Wounded Warrior Project, Challenged Athletes Foundation, various tennis clubs/organizations.
