De-mystifying the MedBoard Process

Missed our August Convening or want a refresher?  Below are the bios of the speakers and great tools that were shared during the convening!

Our amazing speakers were:

Arphaxad Kiamba, Recovery Care Coordinator, Navy Wounded Warrior Program, Navy Region Southwest. Arphaxad Kiamba (aka: Mr. K) is the Recovery Care Coordinator with the Navy Wounded Warrior program, Navy Region South West.  Following transition out of the Navy a decade ago, he has been fortunate to continue serving and making contributions to those who continue to serve in the greatest US military and their families. Mr. K’s background is in Healthcare Administration and a Master’s in Public Health with emphasis in Epidemiology and Health Promotion. His work experience in the Department of Defense spans from processing, managing Limited Duty and Medical Boards assignments to injured, ill and wounded service members to Recovery Care Coordination at the Navy Region South West – Navy Wounded Warrior Program.

Rena Levy, LCSW, CADC II, Post 9/11 Military2VA (M2VA) Case Manager. Rena Levy has worked with the military/veteran population since 2010 and holds a LCSW and CADC II certification. Rena gained experience working with the military/veteran population as a therapist at Sharp Mesa Vista, therapist at MCAS Miramar, and was the supervisor of the suicide prevention program at MCAS Miramar. Rena has been a case manager with the San Diego VA Military 2 Veteran Transition Program (M2VA) since 2022. She specializes in working with adults, military/veterans, suicide prevention, dual diagnosis, trauma, and eating disorders. She is trained in DBT, CPT, motivational interviewing, and seeking safety.
