Missed our February Convening or want a refresher?  Check out our post with a recording of our guest speakers talking about how to access and leverage childcare resources!  We had an amazing time chatting about the different ways military families can access and leverage childcare!

Our amazing speakers were:

Lini Koria, Senior Program Director for the Child & Youth Development unit at SAY San Diego.  Lini is a Senior Program Director for the Child & Youth Development unit at SAY San Diego. She has worked with SAY for over 30 years serving families in the San Diego Unified School District through their School-Aged Fee-Based Licensed Childcare and PrimeTime Programs. In addition, she oversees SAY SD’s in-house childcare program located at the SAY SD Viewridge Headquarters where they serve infants starting at 6 weeks up to preschool age of 5 years old.

Nicolle Aguiluz (Program Manager for the Family and Youth Enrichment program at the Armed Services YMCA).  Nicolle is the Program Manager for the Family and Youth Enrichment program at the ASYMCA. With five years of experience working with military children in child care, she has been a valuable member of the ASYMCA team for the past four years, starting her journey as a youth leader. A proud native of San Diego, Nicolle enjoys spending her free time immersed in a good book.

Pamela Salgado (Senior Director of Early Childhood Education Programs at TOOTRiS) Pamela brings both personal and professional experience to today’s panel. As a military spouse with a husband who recently retired after 34 years of active duty US Navy, and a mother of two, Pamela has navigated the unique challenges of military family child care firsthand.  Pamela is the Senior Director of Early Childhood Education Programs at TOOTRiS, where she leads the T4Kids programs, which subsidize child care costs for families in San Diego, and oversees the Family Child Care Home Education Network (FCCHEN) to ensure compliance and high-quality program delivery.  With a background in education, including a Master’s in Educational Leadership and an MBA from the University of San Diego, Pamela has held leadership roles at LENA, Teachstone, and First 5 California, making significant contributions to early childhood education across the country.

Sarah Howard (Office Coordinator for SAY San Diego Military Family Resource Center).Sarah Howard is the Office Coordinator at the Social Advocates for Youth (SAY) San Diego Military Family Resource Center. Sarah is a native San Diegan and Veteran Military spouse with a deep understanding of San Diego’s unique support network. She specializes in connecting military families to essential resources, from housing and childcare to financial assistance and community connection. Passionate about serving those who serve, Sarah is dedicated to ensuring military families have the support they need to thrive.
